Who I Am

 

In 1973, at eighteen years of age, Glenn Berger began his apprenticeship at New York’s world-class A & R Recording Studios under the tutelage of legendary music producer Phil Ramone. Quickly rising to prominence as a recording engineer, he spent the decade working with luminaries such as Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Paul Simon, and Frank Sinatra.

 

During his thirties, Dr. Berger found a new calling and returned to school to become a psychotherapist, counselor, mentor and coach.

He received his undergraduate degree from one of the country’s first progressive schools based on the principles of John Dewey, Goddard College, where he studied psychology, anthropology, history of religions, esoterica, mythology, and fairy tales.

He received his Masters degree from the Enrenkranz School of Social Work at New York University. He received two Presidential Achievement Awards at NYU.

Dr. Berger completed post-graduate training at the Gestalt Associates for Psychotherapy.

Continuing to follow his path of non-traditional education, Dr. Berger completed his Phd at the progressive International University of Graduate Studies where he completed his thesis on Finding the Lost Heart: A New Path to Love, Growth and Wisdom, inspired by the philosophy of Chinese sage, Mencius.

Dr. Berger has been certified in EMDR, has personally been trained by Harville Hendrix, the inventor of Imago Couples Therapy, and is an Amen Certified Brain Health Coach.

Dr. Berger is the inventor of apps for anxiety and anger, available on itunes under the name of “Shrinky.”

He is the author of a children’s book titled Princess Chantik and the Outside World.

His memoir of his days in the NY music biz of the 1970s, Never Say No to a Rock Star, published by Schaffner Press, was released on July 1, 2016.

He is the winner of the 2015 Schaffner Prize for Music in Literature.

He is the winner of the ARSC Award for Excellence.

He has appeared on television, radio, and presented his work on the psychology of the artist at the Creativity and Madness Conferences in Santa Fe, NM.

Dr. Berger is passionately married, has two great kids, and a dog named Ollie.
